It must have been the breeze flickering the few dashes of yellow leaves throughout the city, but today felt like the first day of fall. Technically, the last day of summer was about a week ago but I was not about to believe the calendar for a season that for me rests on a feeling.

I’ll admit, I’ve been in a bit of a writer’s block for a short period of time. Must have been the weather. Nothing struck me as profound, or worth stating. The fodder has been there; hurricanes, floods, I even broke my umbrella. I’d like to say all my efforts had gone entirely into my book — which is practically the truth — but really, I just wasn’t pulling any energy from my site.

Well, technically the last day of summer isn’t for another couple weeks, but I know what you mean. I wasn’t quite ready to see the leaves starting to turn on my commute…

Yes, change is in the air now that Labor Day has past. The “energy” from weather/nature is evident within. After the holiday the way people look at weather changes- they start as the animals preparing for weather shifts so they move more quickly, think about layering clothing, they “settle in” be it school, or job or just life. Preperation for a change is now more evident. During school we are eyeing the skies because it dictates how the day flows. (Indoor/outdoor recess and when, taking cover for major winds-storms, movement within the classroom) Ask teachers- we can tell when the barometer is doing a quick change just by the reactions of people around us.

Thinking of you as we had tornado sirens last night- and we were under a thunderstorm warning. All this accompanied by the energy of wind/nature.

“Dreading” might be a little strong. I even like fall. Hopefully we all get some time to get out and enjoy it.
