Shockingly, and thankfully, it was cold enough today that briskly walking through Boston I held my scarf tightly to my face to gain the extra protection of gloves. Thankfully, a benefit not just to my face and hands, but also to my voice. We all talk about the weather, more often than I think even I realize. Today however, I mumbled to myself, fumbling with an introduction to my lecture. Who wants to hear a crazy lady walking through the streets talking about the weather?

How do I photograph cold?
Ice seems too easy.
Breeze helpful, bare trees necessary. A scalie with a coat and bundle arms?

Yesterday my eye for photography was questioned again. I can’t explain it or capture it. It’s just what I see, and how I am seeing it. There’s usually a concept behind every photograph before I take it, a composition in my eye before I shutter it, and an intention by the time I open it.

So; no photo today. I’m not sure about cold yet. It’s coming though. I promise.

So much easier to photograph a tangible object (even a large “object”, like say “weather”) than an intangible one. And even when you nail it, it won’t communicate the same thought to every viewer. But it will express something because you keep putting something into it. That counts.
