The brain will flip the data collected by the eyes to the orientation that is correct. I recall reading this in some science book regarding the brain’s ability to turn the images processed by a person in a handstand such that a room is not seen upside down, but eventually conceived as if right side up. An experiment I never tired on myself; too likely to be running around instead of standing still. However, evidently, my long series of sky rotations to emphasize patterns, textures, and colors in the daniel’s view sets has lead me to start seeing a rotation on the ground as well.

Rotating clears away the expectations and allows for the wandering to the brains tendency to search for patterns. A simple twist of the shutter 90degrees with an intentional rotation left to unsettle the ground, and suddenly before even shutting the aperture, my brain is already awaiting the rotated image in it’s correct orientation.
